Legacy DOS Software - DOS Versions of VE, LoansMgr, Walk, STR, CPUType, Keytest
Of interest to the vintage computer hobbyist. Key notes:
- Tested on MS-DOS 6.2 and Windows for Workgroups 3.11 DOS window
- Built using DOS Borland Turbo C++ 3.0 (released in 1992)
- DOS VE 4.4a is a new 2023 release of VE with many new features added
- includes complete PDF User Manual
- includes an additional 32-bit executable, built with DJGPP C compiler/toolset,
which can make use of extended memory for editing of LARGE files/lots of files
- LoansMgr 2.4c3 is the original 1993 LoansMgr zip file released to Garbo and Simtel repositories
- includes complete original "flat text" User Manual
- also includes original shareware registration forms - but is now freeware
- DOS Walk is a Linux-to-DOS port of Walk 1.0
- Linux Walk is a 2005 port of CampbellWare's original early 1980s iRMX86 walk utility
- DOS Set Text Resolution (STR) is a new 2023 DOS utility
- STR allows users to manually set the text resolution of the DOS CLI to 80x25, 80x43 or 80x50
- DOS CPUType is a new 2023 DOS utility
- CPUType reports back the CPU type that it is running on,
one of 8088, 8086,80286, 80386, 80486, Pentium
- DOS Keytest8 is a new 2023 edition of the original Keytest utility
- Keytest8 reads keyboard presses and echos back (in hex) the keycodes received
- DOS Datasize is a cross-platform set of reporting utilities for common C data types
- Datasize reports the size in bytes of many common C data types (integer, short, etc.)
